We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Hollie & Matt over the last few months! They are a super fun couple, that we think you will enjoy getting to know too.

How did you meet?

We met online! We both moved to Indianapolis after college, and ended up on OkCupid to meet people in a new city. We quickly discovered our mutual involvement in AmeriCorps, and went from there!

Tell us about your first date. Where did you go?

Matt asked Hollie to HopCat Broad Ripple, since we also found out that we both love craft beer. Hollie drank Bell's Best Brown (a nod to her home state of Michigan), and Matt ordered a Hop for Teacher (a nod to his job as a teacher at the time). Matt, the more talkative of the two, was a little shaken by how talkative Hollie was, driven by her nerves. But he agreed to a second date anyways, and the rest was history!

Everyone loves a proposal story! Tell us about the proposal!

Matt took Hollie and our dog Zippy to Holliday Park, where we had our second date and both realized this was going to be something special. He proposed by the water, and although neither of us can remember what he said, Hollie's answer was a definitive yes!

What are you looking forward to most about your wedding?

We are so excited to have all our family and friends in one place, coming from different parts of the country. We are also looking forward to cracking open a cold one, as we have been aging a special beer to share with each other since the day Matt proposed.

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

We can't wait to head to Iceland right after our wedding! We have plans to drive the ring road around the country, and are especially excited to go spelunking in an ice cave and take a nighttime boat cruise under the Northern Lights.

Any advice for other engaged couples?

Early on in our engagement, Hollie discovered the Bridechilla podcast, survival guide, and community. They were so helpful to the process, reminding us to make our engagement and our wedding what we wanted, and to throw everything else in the FIB. We highly recommend the Bridechilla mindset and resources to every engaged couple!
