How did you meet?

We met our junior year at Indiana University. We took some classes together and during senior year, we were a part of the Executive Board for a student organization and started dating our second semester year.

Tell us about your first date. Where did you go?

We can't exactly agree on what the first date was, but like most IU students, we spent some time on Kirkwood Ave so The Big Cheeze food truck and Kilroy's breadsticks were big for us.

Everyone loves a proposal story! How did he propose to you?

After moving to Phoenix, AZ in 2013, we knew that we would have to get creative with the summer heat. In August 2018, we decided to go up north to Sedona to celebrate 5.5 years of dating. (Spoiler alert: Kaleigh found a small gold box about nearly two weeks before the trip. Not wanting to spoil the best surprise, she didn't open the box and besides, for all she knew it was cufflinks inside!) In Sedona, we climbed a mountain near our Airbnb and Peter got to the top first. He knelt down to get something out of his backpack, Kaleigh took pictures (because did you even hike a mountain if it doesn't make it to Instagram?!) and then before she knew it, Peter was proposing. Kaleigh forgot she was supposed to respond for a bit and then her fingers were so swollen from hiking that the ring didn't fit at first.

What are you looking forward to most about your wedding?

Part of the wedding means our German Shepherd, Frank, and I will have the same last name as Peter. It's been 6+ years of our hybrid last name, Weisenbacher, and September will just be Weisenbach. Obviously, we're also so excited to have so many people that we care about come celebrate our life in a city that we love... and Peter can't wait to eat the cake.

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

We want to save up some time and plan out our trip so we'll be going on our honeymoon as a first anniversary celebration. We'll do a minimoon back in Sedona to celebrate (and not go back to work right away!)
